What is the difference between translation and interpreting?

Easiest difference to understand is: translation is written, interpreting is spoken. You may need to TRANSLATE a document into a different language or you may need to have an INTERPRETER present at a meeting.

What is Localization?

Localization goes beyond language translation by adapting content in a way that meets the unique needs of a specific country or region. Localization considers how things like idioms, puns, pop-culture references, geographic humor, nationalistic pride, and emotional language could play a role in how a message is received. Why can’t I just use Google Translate, AI or ChatGPT?

Google Translate or other Artificial intelligence-powered translation or interpreting software are great tools for speed and little-to-no investment. The reality of today’s technological situation is that humans produce more accurate and higher quality translations and interpreting in more available languages. Other lingering concerns that tag along with AI and localization efforts: data privacy, data protection and retention, data locality, and security issues such as ISO and state/federal compliance.
