Translators work with the written word, be it documents, manuals, contracts, text books, websites or even cocktail napkin scribblings. It’s an attention-to-details profession that requires a high level of skill and proficiency in a language. At INGCO International we’re proud to say all of our translators are human, 100% human. Yes, that even sounds bizarre to us, but it makes sense when you consider just how many translation companies use computer-assisted/generated translations. There’s nothing wrong with computers, we use them all the time, just not to create our translations. We’ve found them to be consistently inaccurate and have even received such translations from clients requesting us to make them sound… human. To ensure cohesion through any documents we translate we utilize a linguistic database known as Translation Memory Software.

Where Translation works with the written word, Interpretation works with the spoken word. It requires much more than simply being ‘bilingual’ and having good hearing. An interpreter receives messages instantly in a source language and, without fail, must then deliver it accurately in the target language. Interpreters do not translate word-for-word, rather they must interpret the message and intent.

INGCO International offers two modes of interpretive services: Consecutive (stop and go – interpretation after a source-language speaks) and Simultaneous (as you go – extempore interpretation). Either service works for conference needs it’s just a matter of personal choice. We select the most qualified interpreters to meet our clients’ needs in any location- including phone interpreting and can provide on-site coordination and interpreting equipment as needed.

TRANSCREATION SERVICES

The difference between a translation and transcreation is creativity. Where a translation relies on accuracy and close adherence to an original source language, transcreation takes the overall intent of text or an idea and culturally adapts it into a target language. Advertising campaigns are transcreated. Legal documents, translated.

Our transcreators are culturally multilingual. They understand idioms, puns, pop-culture references, geographic humor, nationalistic pride, and all the emotional language associated with a given language – including the curse words. Where a translator provides one accurate option of translation, transcreators are often expected to produce three options to convey an idea. Transcreators are creative thinkers and provide clients with cultural advice. It’s a pity Kentucky Fried Chicken didn’t hire a transcreator when they launched in China. If they had, their tag line Finger Licking Good, would not have translated into Eat Your Fingers Off.
